There will still be the need to control the amount of this hay in your animals’ diet due to the high DE (digestible energy) of this hay. If your animal tends to put on weight, you may want to substitute part of their feed with a lower Non-Structural Carbohydrates (NSC) feed like Teff hay or Bermuda grass hay. Do not substitute with straw or brome as it can be of lower quality.

1. NORMAL ALFALFA HAY FOR SALE

Normal Alfalfa hay is an excellent feed for your animals. The stem to leaf ratio is slightly higher than our premium hay, but the quality is still very high. As with all our Alfalfa hay, we inspect and grade every lot for the leaf to stem ratio, moisture content, color, contaminates like mold and pests, stem size, and nutrition levels. Our Normal Alfalfa hay has the same high nutritional levels as our premium Alfalfa hay. Still, it doesn’t quite meet the high standards we set for our premium alfalfa hay. We take the same care to store the feed in a clean, dry, covered environment. Our Normal hay must contain no mold and no toxic or noxious weeds. It may not flake as well as our premium hay. However, it is still great for horses, cattle, sheep, goats, or other small animals that don’t require the highest quality of our premium alfalfa hay.

Our buyers are our priority. We ship our alfalfa bales across the United States at competitive rates. We encourage you to contact us with your feed needs in advance so we can supply precisely the fodder to fit your needs. We’re happy to work with you to get the hay and cutting you want. Make sure you get premium Alfalfa bales for optimal health and performance. Good hay can make a difference.

NUTRITION- ALFALFA HAY FOR SALE

Alfalfa is high in protein and digestible energy (DE). For active, lactating, or growing horses, it provides all their nutrients and energy needs. However, mature horses, with lower protein needs, may not need straight Alfalfa hay because of the high protein content. Grass hay or alfalfa mix hay of grass hay, and Alfalfa may supply the proper nutritional value for your horse. If your horse tends to put on weight, it's essential to control the amount of Alfalfa in your horse's feeder for their diet. This can be easily done by augmenting their feeding with grass hay. Secondarily, this will add much-needed fiber to your animals' food, which helps prevent impaction.

4. PREMIUM TEFF HAY FOR SALE:

Teff hay is a premium hay alternative for a wide range of livestock, including dairy cattle, beef cattle, sheep, and horses. It is the perfect forage for horses. Our customers have found that their horses are calmer and easier to handle when they feed them Teff hay. Protein levels are plenty for horses with only a fraction of the starch of Alfalfa.

It has a 15%, on average, higher relative feed value (RFV) than Timothy hay. In dairy cattle, Teff has shown 7% more milk production per ton when compared to Timothy hay. Our growers ensure that Teff is harvested at the optimum time to produce the ideal nutritional value. Teff grass is fine stemmed, leafy, and soft, which is very palatable to livestock. Teff grass is a gluten-free ancient grain that is low NSC and high fiber. If your horse is overweight, Teff grass will help you control their weight.

Many horse owners have said that their horses won’t eat when fed teff grass hay. But not Conway Feed's Teff hay. Here's why.

When growing Teff, a farmer can get three times the yield from their crop by waiting to harvest after the seed heads hit their maturity. The problem is, horses find the seeds bitter and don’t like them. We have what we believe is the best Teff grown anywhere in the country. Our Teff is grown as a rotational crop with vegetables in sunny Arizona. The soil is fertile, and Teff loves the sunshine.

Furthermore, our growers are some of the best in the United States, and they harvest and bale the Teff before the heads start to form. Harvesting in this way assures the highest nutrient value and palatability of our Teff hay. It is good quality forage that horse owners, ranchers, and farmers will approve of, and horses will love!

5.BERMUDA GRASS HAY FOR SALE:

Our Bermuda grass hay is some of the best grass hay you can buy. Most hay producers try to get the highest forage yield from their hayfields during the growing season. That means they use the variety of bermudagrass that grows the most hay per acre. The problem is, this does not produce the most palatable forage. Horses love our hay. Why? Because our producers are more concerned with quality and palatability than yield. Our bermudagrass hay has smaller stems and is more palatable for better grazing than typical Bermuda grass hay.

We accomplish this by mixing common bermudagrass with the typical giant variety of bermudagrass. The result is a higher quality, more palatable hay for your horses and livestock.

Bermuda grass hay makes a perfect free fed hay. It has low starch, high fiber, and good protein content to ensure the health of your animals. Feeding bermudagrass hay can reduce bad stall behavior such as kicking, box walking, and cribbing by promoting relaxation. This is especially helpful for horses that live in a stable for long periods.

Bermuda grass was brought to the United States in 1751 by Georgia governor Henry Ellis. He saw the grass as a fantastic ground cover for grazing. Since 1943 hybrid bermudagrass has played a vital role in cattle production throughout the South.

Our bermudagrass hay is harvested young and made into hay bales to ensure soft stems, high nutrients, and palatability. The Conway difference is the quality and consistency you can depend on in our bermudagrass mix and our other selections. We only work with growers that are passionate about growing the most excellent quality hay available anywhere. Our growers use the best grass seed, the best growing practices, the best field conditioning practices, and the best harvest practices to produce the best results and the top-quality product we stand behind.
